Within the scope of the Istanbul Airport Project, which is one of the leading projects of our country, the installation of Airport Boarding (Pier) Structures Steel Construction works started by POLARKON at the end of 2015 and was completed in early 2018. The total steel construction tonnage of the building is around 9,000 tons along with the space frame system, all of the carrier steel construction, eaves and suspended ceiling sub-construction.
The Project’s structural designs, engineering services, static calculations, and manufacturing and assembly works were carried out by POLARKON.
The space frame system is the carrier roof construction of the Boarding (Pier) structures consisting of five main branches, which provides connection and landing connection with the terminal section. The area of the space frame system roof structure is 5 kilometres and the total area is 145000 m2 with the rain gutter system and the “bullnose steel construction that forms the eaves of the structure.
Under the space frame system roof construction and in the form of a cross vault, the suspended ceiling bottom steel construction is also among the POLARKON productions. Each pier structure ends with waiting areas with a critical span of 50 meters. POLARKON has been manufactured in a way to integrate a total of 135 pieoes of 3-meter-wide ma sll skylight structure in all scaffolding arms and a steel construction space cage with a roof structure of 15 meterslm) in total, with a diameter of 18 meters(m)-15 meters(m)-12 meters(m)-9 meters(m).
